Loyalty Days is going at the Bloom-Lahti VFW Post 1757 in Cook, MN on May 1st through 3th, 2015.

  1. The following District meetings are announced
    Loyalty Days: Cook #1757 May 1,2,3, 2015
    Schedule included in this mail out.
  2. National By-Laws require that, “...the Post Commander or his representative attend all properly called District Conventions or meetings...” [VFW National By-Laws Sec. 218]. In the VFW, we enjoy a representative form of government where we elect representatives to do our bidding at successfully higher levels. Your Post Commander is your primary representative to the District and, with others, decides the business of the District. He/she is one vote for your post. Any accompanying delegates also each have a vote. So the more representatives you send to District Meetings, the more votes your Post has to wield and the more say you have in District affairs. If you don’t send anybody, others are make decisions for you.
  3. The Department web-site is loaded with information (Department and District Conference / Convention Dates, State Contest Deadlines, VFW Veterans Activity Events, VFW Youth Activity Events, National VFW Events, etc.). You can also download the Commander’s and Quartermaster’s Manuals, both of which provide you with what you need to perform your job efficiently.   4. New District website www.vfw-mn-district-8.org Rich Chasse is doing a terrific job and it, too, is loaded with information.
  5. Inspections are being scheduled and Chief Inspector William Kerzie and his Deputy Inspectors will start making their rounds. Your annual inspection is serious business and more critical than ever before. The Inspectors are charged with a difficult task, have a lot of miles to cover, and their time is valuable. They deserve your respect and cooperation. What they do is for your benefit more than anybody else’s.
  6. Please continue to submit monthly Community Service Reports, due by the 25of each month one report each month.
  7. All Post have paid District Assessments, thanks.
  8. If you were at the last District Meeting you know that the District is low on Funds and the District Commander has chosen the District as his Commander’s Project. If each Post would donate $100.00 to the Commander Project the District would be in good shape. Thanks to the following Posts that have sent their $100.00 Post 726 Baudette, Post 2948 I-Falls, Post 9703 Jesse Lake, Post 4456 Gilbert, Post 3044 Cotton
  9. Loyalty Days in Cook is when we elect the District Officers for the up coming Year Please attend and make you vote count.
  10. Loyalty Days in Cook there will be an Auction with all proceeds to the Commanders and President’s Project which is the District General Fund Please help and bring something to be auctioned off.
  11. Hospital and Camper ship fee and past due! The Posts have been notify by Dept. QM Please pay the now!!!

Our 3rd meeting of 2014/2015 will be held at the George and Mark Klobuchar VFW Post 4456 in Gilbert, MN on February 7th and 8th, 2015.
