Welcome to the Presidents Pantry where you will always find the ingredients for caring, sharing, helping those in need and best of all in making lasting friendships.

Hello, and welcome brothers and sisters. My name is Jean Scholar. I am the President of the VFW Auxiliary for the 8th District of Minnesota. I have been a member of the VFW Auxiliary since 1968. I joined the Hoyt Lakes Auxiliary and am still a member there.

My husband, of fourteen years, Butch and I, have six children, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

I joined the VFW Auxiliary primarily because of my father, a World War II disabled veteran. Growing up, I witnessed my father suffer in silence with his body full of fragments from a grenade. When I was twelve years old, my father entered the Sturgis, South Dakota VA Hospital to have some of the fragments removed. To this day, I do not know how my father arranged for me to tour the hospital, but he did. Memories of those veterans there at that facility have remained with me to this day. I saw men and women who looked 100 years old, but in fact, were less than forty. I also saw veterans who would never leave the facility. After the tour, my father's words were simple yet profound "Don't Ever Forget". I have not forgotten.

My symbol is the bunny, my flower is the carnation and my color is blue. My motto is "Hop into Service to the Veterans".

I have served in many of the offices and chairmanships for my Auxiliary, mostly as President. I served as Color Bearer, Junior Vice and Senior Vice for the 8th District.

Sincerely,

Jean Scholar
